France, Italian Campaign and Légion d’Honneur Group of 4 awarded to Marechal-des-Logis Louis Philippe, Artillery, comprising: Légion d’Honneur, Third Republic, Knight’s breast badge, in silver, gilt and enamels; Médaille Militaire Napoleon III; Italy Campaign 1859; Franco-Prussian War 1870-71, in silver, 36.3mm; others (2) in bronze, 29.7mm, one with ‘Éngage Volontaire’ clasp and gilt Veteran’s medal, mainly very fine (8) louis Philippe joined 11th Regiment of Artillery 20 December 1851, promoted to Marechal-des-Logis 12 February 1856, served in the Italian Campaign from May 1859-June 1860; served in the Franco-Prussian War from 28 July 1870. He was taken P.O.W. at Metz, 28 October 1870 where he remained until the end of the conflict, and was attached to the Military Academy Saint-Cyr, retiring in March 1881 after almost 30 years’ service.Offered with original documents for the Légion d’Honneur dated 6 and 10 February 1878, Médaille Militaire 17 April 1869, Italian Campaign 15 October 1859, and service records.
