P.I), well-toned, very fine The medal appears to be privately issued, while the 20th Punjab Infantry were not entitled to the Malakand clasp, Col. W. H. Meiklejohn of the 20th was in charge of the Malakand garrison and it seems likely that Mad Hassan was a member of Meiklejohn’s staff, probably as a servant, Meiklejohn is likely to have purchased the medal privately and had it regimentally impressed in recognition of Hasan’s services during the siege.Ex Morton and Eden, July 2013
