A WW2 ‘Mediterranean Theatre’ M.i.D. Group of 4 awarded to Sergeant John Haworth, Royal Army Ordnance Corps, with M.i.D. certificate, pay book, other related medals and a small archive of military and civilian photographs and ephemera, comprising: 1939-45 Star; Italy Star; Defence and War Medals, 1939-45, with M.i.D. bronze oakleaf; Group loose, with original named O.H.M.S. cardboard box of issue with transmission slip, soldier’s service and pay book, release book, M.i.D. certificate, a cased silver medal of the City and Guilds of London Institute Technological Examination Medal (John Haworth . Textile Printing. 1st Prize, 1939.); with apparently related Victory Medal, 1914-1920 (212550 Pte. J. W. Felton. Labour Corps.); medals practically as issued in original packaging (6) M.i.D.: London Gazette: 23 May 1946 for gallant and distinguished services in the Mediterranean Theatre Sergeant John Haworth of 10 Cawley Terrace, Blackley, Manchester, was born on 31 March 1915 and worked as a Colour Mixer in the Textile Industry in the Manchester area before WW2. He enlisted for wartime service with the R.A.O.C. on 15 August 1940. Reaching the rank of Sergeant, he saw active service in Italy and was given a post-war Mention In Despatches in the London Gazette of 23 May 1946.
