Royal Sovereign.); Group loose, toned, obverses heavily-polished, one or two edge bumps, good fine / good very fine (2) Chief Painter John William Charles Harvey was born on 4 February 1888 at Devonport, Devon, and began his career with the Royal Navy as Painter 2nd Class on 9 September 1909. He remained in service with the Royal Navy throughout the Great War, he received his L.S.G.C. Medal while serving aboard the Revenge-class Battleship H.M.S. Royal Sovereign between 1934 and 1928, and appears to have retired from Royal Navy service on 10 October 1928.
