Description

An Indian Mutiny and New Zealand Campaign Pair awarded to Private James Scott, 1st Battalion, 12th Regiment, late 72nd Highlanders, comprising: Indian Mutiny, 1857-58, single clasp, Central India (Jas. Scott, 72nd Highlanders); New Zealand, 1845-66, reverse dated 1861-1866 (640. Jas. Scott, 1st Bn 12th Regt.); Pair loose, apparently with original ribbons, heavy contact marks to first, good fine to very fine (2) The Indian Mutiny Medal Roll shows that 3 Privates of the name Private James Scott served with the 72nd Highlanders during the India Mutiny, all with the same entitlement to the clasp Central India (one of whom died on 15 September 1858). 640 Private James Scott later joined the 1st Battalion, 12th (East Suffolk) Regiment and served in New Zealand between 1861 and 1866 (roll confirms).
