D.C.M.: London Gazette: 30 June 1915 – ‘For conspicuous gallantry as signaller in repairing wires under fire. At Neuve Chapelle between 10th March and 14th March, 1915, he did good work with an observing Officer under most difficult circumstances.’ Driver Thomas Foye served in the Royal Field Artillery in the Great War. His M.i.C. states that he served initially with the 35th Brigade, but we know that he won the D.C.M. at Neuve Chapelle in March 1915 whilst serving with the 22nd Brigade Ammunition Column. He later joined the 1st Squadron of the Royal Flying Corps as an Air Mechanic 1st Class, and it was while serving with this regiment that he died on 22 December 1916.
