George III, Sydney Gardens, Bath, Proprietor’s ticket in silver, undated, circa 1800, with engraved no. 52, obv., view of the Sydney Hotel within the Gardens, 35mm., extremely fine, darkly toned. Created in the 1790s and said to be a favourite of Jane Austen, Sydney Gardens survives as one of the finest remaining Georgian pleasure gardens in Britain. The Sydney Hotel, as depicted on the ticket, is now the Holburne Museum.
