Attributed to Antonio Signoretti (fl. from 1550s), An Unknown Lady, lead uniface medal, bust facing right within an oval cartouche, her hair bejewelled, wearing double looped pearl necklace, elaborate drapery and set upon a scrolled plinth, 68 x 65mm (Attwood 654 = Warren, Ashmolean, p. 734, fig. 267; Armand III, 94, A), pierced, a very fine contemporary cast, some light oxidation. The lead example quoted by Attwood, in the Ashmolean Museum, is oval, cut down to the cartouche surrounding the bust. Armand recorded the signature S on the plinth, not visible on this or the Ashmolean piece.
