North Italian (16th century), Vulcan and Thetis arming and crowning the Child Achilles, bronze plaquette, Achilles standing on a plinth, flanked by Vulcan who holds up a tiny corselet, and his mother Thetis who crowns him, a wheel of Fortune leaning up against the plinth; the scene set within elaborately scrolled and shaped borders, 94.5 x 80.0mm (Molinier -; Bange -; Maclagan p. 60, 533-1864), old cast with faults, cast from a pierced example, very fine
