Hindu Medieval of India
Vijayanagara Empire, Aravidu Dynasty, Venkatapathiraya II (15-16 Century AD), Gold Varaha, Obv: the god Venkateshwara standing below an ornamental arch facing forward, holding a discus (chakra) and a conch-shell (shankha) in two separate hands while another hand is in the abhayamudra gesture, Rev: traces of Nagari legend ("Shri Ven/katagiri/shwara") in three lines with interlinear rules, 3.35g, 12.62mm, (JONS. 230, Chandragiri coins of Aravidu Dynasty # Pl. 1), reverse legend is obscured due to heavy strike at obverse, almost uncirculated, Very Rare.
