★ Attractive Vespasian Aureus with original luster still remaining ★
Roman Empire - Vespasian (AD 69-79). AV Aureus (6,35 g. 18 mm.).
78-79 d.C. Rome.
CAESAR VESPASIANVS AVG. Laureate head to right.
CERES AVGVST. Ceres standing to left, holding corn ears, poppy, and sceptre.
No any references in the Vespasian's coinage with the distribution of the legend CERES below the corn ears (Ric 967), however Titus does mention it (Ric 973). Therefore we believe that it may be a hybrid type. (Ric-967/973 Titus). Very rare.
Good very fine condition. Beautiful colour. Original luster still remaining in some areas. Minted with tired dies.
