The note in blue on multi-coloured underprint featuring a tree and a portrait of King Muhammad Idris as Sanussi at left and berry bush at centre and right. These one of the first issues after Libya established a constitutional and hereditary monarchy in 1951 following their predecessors - the French mandate Algerian Francs and the British mandate Tripolitanian Liras issued by the British Military Authority. The rate at the time being 1 pound = 480 lire = 980 francs.
