LUCANIA. Herakleia. Circa 330/25-281 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 22 mm, 7.86 g, 10 h). ՒHPAKΛEIΩN Head of Athena to right, wearing Corinthian helmet adorned with Skylla hurling a stone; behind her neck, K. Rev. ՒHPAKΛEIΩN - [AΘA] Herakles standing facing, holding club in his right hand and bow and arrow in his left; lion skin draped over his left arm; to upper left, jug. HN Italy 1384. SNG ANS 76. Van Keuren 84. A beautifully toned piece with a splendid obverse. The reverse struck somewhat off center, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
