Description

CALABRIA. Tarentum. Circa 400-390 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 21 mm, 7.52 g, 9 h). Nude warrior on horseback left, holding bridles in his right hand and carrying small round shield and spear in his left; below, Σ. Rev. Youthful oikist, nude, riding dolphin to left, holding helmet in his right hand and large oval shield in his left; below, Σ. HN Italy 849. Vlasto 297. Rare and lightly toned. Very fine.
