★ Bright and clear ★

LUCANIA. Metapontion. Circa 330-290 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 21 mm, 7.88 g, 2 h). Head of Demeter to left, wearing wreath of grain ears, triple pendant earring and pearl necklace; below chin, ΔΩPI. Rev. META Barley ear with leaf to left; above leaf, pitchfork; below leaf, ΔA. HN Italy 1582. Johnston Class C, 5.2. Bright and clear. The obverse struck from a slightly worn die and with a minor graffito on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
