Histamenon (Gold, 26 mm, 4.45 g, 6 h), Constantinopolis. +IhS XIS RЄX RЄGNANTIhm Christ, nimbate, standing facing on footstool, wearing tunic and pallium, raising his right hand in benediction and holding book of Gospels in his left. Rev. +ΘЄΟΔωPA AVΓΟVCTA Theodora, on the left, standing facing, wearing crown with pinnacles and pendilia, divitision and loros, placing her right hand on breast and Virgin, on the right, standing facing, nimbate, wearing tunic and maphorion, holding between them labarum on shaft; M - Θ flanking Virgin’s head. DOC 1c. SB 1837. Very rare without the pellets in the nimbus of Christ, and a beautiful coin. Good extremely fine.
