Description

CALABRIA. Tarentum. Campano-Tarentine series, circa 281-228 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 19 mm, 6.79 g, 11 h), Ey..., magistrate. Diademed head of a nymph to left, wearing triple-pendant earring and necklace; behind neck, EY. Rev. TA Nude youth riding horse walking to right, raising his right hand to crown the horse's head; below, dolphin right. HN Italy 1098. SNG ANS 1277. SNG Paris 1972. Vlasto 995. A beautifully toned piece of fine style. Good very fine.

From an old Viennese collection, formed in the 1950s and 1960s and in 3rd generation family possession since.
