Description

★ An apparently unpublished variety ★

CELTIC, Northeast Gaul. Remi. Late 2nd to mid 1st century BC. Stater (Electrum, 18 mm, 6.15 g, 5 h), 'à l'oeil' type. Devolved and disjointed laureate male head to right; before, three stars. Rev. Celticized horse galloping to left, horseman transformed into V-shaped figure within heart-shaped ornament; below, pellet-within-annulet within circle of pearls; all over serrated line over line of pearls; below, three stars. DT 174 var. (no stars on the reverse). Leu 3 (2018), 16 var. (differing ornaments below the horse). LT 8799 var. (one star each on the obverse and the reverse). SLM -. An apparently unpublished variety. Somewhat weakly struck and the reverse slightly off center, otherwise, extremely fine.
