CELTIC, Northeast Gaul. Caleti. 2nd century BC. Half Stater (Gold, 15 mm, 4.02 g, 7 h), 'type nord-armoricain - à la roue'. Celticized laureate male head to right, with wheel (or two wheels?) on cheek. Rev. Celticized horseman to right, holding spear in his right hand; below horse, lyre; in exergue, imitative legend devolved into ornamented ground line. DT -, cf. 101-102 (wheel below horse). LT -. SLM -. Extremely rare and apparently unpublished. Struck from worn dies and with a scrape on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.
