ISLAMIC, Ottoman Empire. Murad III, AH 982-1003 / AD 1574-1595. Sultani (Gold, 21 mm, 3.47 g, 10 h), Misr, date off flan. Within a circle, ‘sulṭān al-barrayn / wa khāqān al-baḥrayn / al-sulṭān ibn / al-sulṭān’ (‘The sultan of the two lands and the khaqan of the two seas, Sultan son of Sultan’ in Arabic). Rev. Within a circle, ‘Sulṭān Murād ibn / Salīm Khān ʿazza / naṣruhū ḍuriba fī / Miṣr sana / …’ (‘Sultan Murad son of Salim Khan. May his victory be honoured. Struck in Misr, year …’ in Arabic).
