Description

★ From the East Harptree Hoard, found in Somerset, in the summer of 1887 ★

Valens, 364-378. Siliqua (Silver, 20 mm, 2.03 g, 6 h), Treveri, 367-375. D N VALENS P F AVG Pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust of Valens to right. Rev. VRBS ROMA / TRPS• Roma seated left, holding Victory on globe in her right hand and inverted spear in her left. RIC 27e.1. RSC 109†a. Beautifully toned and sharply struck, a lovely coin. Minor deposits on the upper edge of the reverse, otherwise, good extremely fine.

From an American collection, privately acquired from Classical Numismatic Group, and from the East Harptree Hoard, found in Somerset, in the summer of 1887.
