Description

CAMPANIA. Neapolis. Circa 320-300 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 20 mm, 7.40 g, 9 h). Head of nymph to right, wearing pendant earring and pearl necklace; behind, bunch of grapes; below, ΣΤΑ; before, X. Rev. [ΝΕΟΠΟΛΙΤΩΝ] Man-headed bull walking to right, head facing; above, Nike flying right crowning him with wreath; below, K. HN Italy 571. Sambon 472. SNG ANS 364. Lightly toned and of fine style. Struck somewhat off center and with some scratches, otherwise, very fine.
