BRUTTIUM. Kroton. Circa 400-325 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 22 mm, 7.84 g, 4 h). Head of Hera Lakinia facing slightly to the right, wearing stephane ornamented with palmettes. Rev. [ΚΡΟΤΩΝΙΑ]ΤΑN Youthful Herakles seated to left on a rock draped with his lionskin, holding a one-handled cup in his right hand and resting his left on his club; below, bow. HN Italy 2167. SNG ANS 371 ( same dies ). A bright and attractive piece of splendid style. The usual die break on the obverse and the reverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
