Description

LUCANIA. Metapontion. Circa 330-290 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 21 mm, 7.87 g, 3 h). Head of Demeter to right, wearing wreath of grain ears, triple pendant earring and pearl necklace; before, [ΔAI]. Rev. META ar of barley with leaf to left; to right above leaf, plow; below, [MAX]. HN Italy 1581. Johnston Class C, 1.2. Beautifully toned. Struck from slightly worn dies, otherwise, very fine.

From an American collection, formed before 2005.
