Description

CILICIA. Tarsus. Hadrian, 117-138. Tridrachm (Silver, 25 mm, 10.42 g, 12 h). ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙ ΘΕ ΤΡA ΠΑΡ ΥΙ ΘΕ ΝΕΡ ΥΙ ΤΡΑI ΑΔΡΙΑΝΟϹ ϹEB Laureate head of Hadrian to right, with slight drapery on his left shoulder. Rev. TΑΡϹΕΩΝ ΜΗΤΡΟΠΟΛΕΩϹ City-goddess, turreted and veiled, seated left, holding palm in her right hand and cornucopiae in her left; at feet to left, river-god Kydnos, crowned with wreath of sedge, swimming left; all within laurel wreath. Prieur 760. RPC III 3260.14 ( this coin ). Slightly porous and with light deposits, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
