KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 17.10 g, 6 h), Babylon I, struck under Seleukos I as satrap, circa 311-305. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. ΒAΣIΛEΩΣ - AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus Aëtophoros seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, monogram within wreath; below throne, MI. Price 3747. SC 82.5b. A beautiful coin with a bold head of Herakles. A few light marks and minor roughness, otherwise, extremely fine.
