KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 17.12 g, 1 h), uncertain mint in Southern Asia Minor, circa 320-280. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕ[ΩΣ] - AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, rose on stem above monogram. Price 3073. A lightly toned and attractive example. Light marks, otherwise, very fine.
