Description

Constantine I, 307/310-337. Follis (Bronze, 20 mm, 3.14 g, 6 h), Rome, circa 320. CONS-TANTIN-VS AVG Helmeted, draped and cuirassed bust of Constantine I to left, seen from behind, holding spear in his right hand and shield with his left. Rev. VIRTV-S AVGG / P - R / R Q Campgate with no doors and four turrets. RIC -. Very rare. Minor smoothing, otherwise, about very fine.

From the collection of Dr. L. Ramskold, formed since 1969.

Six examples are known for this type, all in private collections: one from officina S and five from officina Q.
