M. Cipius M.f, 115-114 BC. Denarius (Subaeratus, 16 mm, 3.12 g, 12 h), a contemporary plated imitation. M•CIPI•M•F Head of Roma to right, wearing winged helmet, pendant earring and pearl necklace; behind, X (mark of value). Rev. [ROMA] Victory in prancing biga to right, holding palm-branch tied with fillet in her her right hand and reins in her left; below horses, rudder. Babelon (Cipia) 1. Crawford 289/1. RBW 1118. Sydenham 546. Beautifully toned. Minor breaks in plating, otherwise, about extremely fine.
