Description

★ Extremely rare and with a lovely rendering of Nilus ★

EGYPT. Alexandria. Hadrian, 117-138. Tetradrachm (Billon, 24 mm, 12.75 g, 12 h), RY 6 = 121/2. ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙ ΤΡΑΙ ΑΔΡΙΑ ϹЄΒ Laureate head of Hadrian to right, with slight drapery on his left shoulder; to right, crescent. Rev. L ς Nilus reclining left, head to right, holding cornucopiae in his right hand and reed in his left; below, crocodile to right. Dattari (Savio) 1444 = RPC III online 5336.2 ( this coin ). Emmett 877.6. K&G 32.192. Extremely rare and with a lovely rendering of Nilus. Minor roughness, otherwise, very fine.
