★ An interesting plated denarius of Neros Claudius Drusus ★
Nero Claudius Drusus, died 9 BC. Denarius (Subaeratus, 18 mm, 2.31 g, 12 h), a contemporary plated imitation. NERO CLAVDIVS DRVSVS GERMANICVS IMP Laureate head of Drusus to left. Rev. Triumphal arch surmounted by equestrian statue right between two trophies with seated captives, the rider holding spear in his right hand; above and on architrave, DE - GERM. Cf. BMC 97, Cohen 2 and RIC 70 (for prototype). Breaks in plating and with some cleaning scratches, otherwise, very fine.
