L. Plautius Plancus, 47 BC. Denarius (Silver, 20 mm, 4.02 g, 12 h), Rome. L•PLAVTIVS Facing head of Medusa with coiled serpent on either side. Rev. PLANCVS Victory (or winged Aurora) flying right, head to left, holding reins and conducting four rearing horses of the sun. Babelon (Plautia) 15. Crawford 453/1a. RBW 1583. Sydenham 959. Fresh and attractive, with a lovely obverse. Struck somewhat off center, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
