★ Beautifully toned ★

LUCANIA. Velia. Circa 334-300 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 20 mm, 7.51 g, 1 h). Head of Athena to left, wearing Attic helmet adorned with a griffin; behind, monogram. Rev. YEΛΗΤΩΝ Lion standing left, devouring prey; below, Φ. HN III 1294. Williams 328. Beautifully toned. Struck from the usual slightly worn dies , otherwise, good very fine.

From an old Swiss collection, formed in the early to mid 20th century.
