Description

CELTIC, Northwest Gaul. Namnetes. Late 2nd-mid 1st century BC. Stater (Electrum, 22 mm, 5.97 g, 12 h), 'à l'hippophore - à la petite tête' type. Celticized head of Apollo to right, with strings of pearls coming out of his own head and a cross ornament at forehead. Rev. Devolved charioteer, driving a cart drawn by a centaur to right, holding reins with his right hand; below, devolved upper body of a male figure to right with arms outstretched with pellet before. DT 2200. Scheers, Rouen 435. Good fine.
