★ A very rare civil war denarius in the name of Divus Augustus ★

Civil Wars, 68-69. Forces of Galba in Spain, in the name of Augustus (27 BC-AD 14). Denarius (Subaeratus, 18 mm, 2.81 g, 12 h), 3 April-2nd half of June 68. CAESAR AVGVSTVS Laureate head of Augustus to right. Rev. DIVVS - IVLIVS Sidus Iulium: eight-rayed comet with tail upwards. BMC 49 = Nicolas A8 and pl. XX, A8 BR. CG 146.6. Cohen 98 (for Augustan prototype). Martin A 10. RIC 92. Very rare. A well centered and unusually attractive example. Somewhat porous and with tiny breaks in plating, otherwise, very fine.
