CARIA. Kasolaba. Circa 410-390 BC. Hemiobol (Silver, 6 mm, 0.34 g, 6 h). Head of a ram to right. Rev. Youthful male head to right; to left, 𐋃; to right, A (?); all within circular incuse. HN online 945. Konuk, Kasolaba 7. SNG Keckman I, 874. Nicely toned. Very fine.
Privately acquired from Dr. F. Sternberg in the 1990s (with original dealer's ticket).
Following a reinterpreted reading of the letter 𐋃 as 'z' by I.-J. Adiego, Konuk ascribes this enigmatic issue to Kasolaba, a hitherto unlocated city known from Athenian tribute lists to have been situated somewhere between Halikarnassos and Mylasa.
