★ Rare and unusually well preserved for a Carthaginian follis ★

Justinian I, 527-565. Follis (Bronze, 37 mm, 22.74 g, 12 h), Carthage, RY 14 = 540/1. D N IVSTINIANVS P P AVC Helmeted, diademed and cuirassed bust of Justinian I facing, holding globus cruciger in his right hand and with a shield, decorated with a horseman spearing a fallen foe, over his left shoulder; in field to right, cross. Rev. Large M between A/N/N/O and X/IIII; above, cross; below, S; in exergue, CAR. DOC 293. MIBE 195. SB 261. Rare and unusually well preserved for a Carthaginian follis. Minor deposits, otherwise, good very fine.
