Description

Claudius, 41-54. As (Copper, 28 mm, 10.10 g, 6 h), Rome, 50-54. TI CLAVDIVS CAESAR AVG P M TR P IMP Bare head of Claudius to left. Rev. LIBERTAS AVG[VSTA] / S - C Libertas, draped, standing front, head to right, holding pileus in her right hand and extending her left. BMC 145. Cohen 47. RIC 97. Attractive green patina. The reverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, about very fine.

From a collection formed in the Rhineland from the late 1970s to the late 1990s, privately acquired from Dr. Walter Kimpel (with original dealer's ticket).
