Description

★ A nicely toned Athenian hemiobol ★

ATTICA. Athens. Circa 454-404 BC. Hemiobol (Silver, 8 mm, 0.36 g, 11 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with three olive leaves and palmette. Rev. AΘE Owl standing right, head facing; to left, olive sprig and crescent; all within incuse square. Kroll 14. Svoronos pl. 17, 49-52. Nicely toned. Very fine.

From the Hestia Collection, formed over the past five decades, privately acquired from P. Rabin (with dealer's ticket), ex Gorny & Mosch 233, 6 October 2015, 1468 and Roma 4, 30 September 2012, 166.
