Description

KINGS OF MACEDON. Philip II, 359-336 BC. 1/5 Tetradrachm (Silver, 14 mm, 2.64 g, 1 h), Amphipolis, struck under Antipater, Polyperchon, or Kassander, circa 323/2-316/5. Diademed head of Apollo to right. Rev. ΦIΛIΠΠOΥ Youth on horseback to right; below, monogram of ΠΑ. Le Rider pl. 45, 7. SNG ANS 53-7. Light deposits and with minor areas of corrosion on the reverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.

From the Hestia Collection, formed over the past five decades, privately acquired from R. Swan in March 2008.
