★ Lustrous and fresh ★

SICILY. Syracuse. Hieron II, 275-215 BC. 60 Litrai or Dekadrachm (Gold, 16 mm, 4.27 g, 4 h), 269-263 or 218/7-215. Head of Persephone to left, wearing wreath of grain ears, pendant earring and pearl necklace; to right, eight-rayed star. Rev. IEPΩΝΟΣ Charioteer driving biga galloping to left, holding kentron in her right hand and reins in her left; below, E. Carroccio 78 (D40/R57). SNG München 1345. A fresh and lustrous example of very attractive style. Minor die rust on the obverse as usual, otherwise, good extremely fine.
