★ Lightly toned and very well struck on a full flan ★

PTOLEMAIC KINGS OF EGYPT. Ptolemy I Soter, As satrap, 323-305 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 28 mm, 15.52 g, 12 h), Alexandria, circa 306-300. Diademed head of the deified Alexander III to right, with horn of Zeus Ammon above his ear, wearing elephant skin headdress and aegis around his neck; small Δ on aegis. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Athena Alkidemos advancing right, brandishing spear with her right hand and holding shield in her left; to left, monogram of ΘΕ; to right, Corinthian helmet to right over ΔΙ and eagle with closed wings standing right on thunderbolt. CPE 73. SNG Copenhagen -. Svoronos 177. A splendid piece, lightly toned and very well struck on a full flan. The usual minor traces of overstriking and with light cleaning scratches on the obverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.
