★ A beautifully toned drachm from Massalia ★

GAUL. Massalia. Circa 220-150 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 2.76 g, 6 h). Draped bust of Artemis to right, wearing stephane, bow and quiver over shoulder; to right, Χ above Η. Rev. MAΣΣA/ΛIHTΩN Lion walking right; to right, Χ above Η. Depeyrot 38.9. Maurel 582. Beautifully toned and well centered, a lovely piece. Minor die breaks on the reverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.
