GERMANY. Kempten. Taler 1542 (Silver, 40 mm, 29.06 g, 3 h) MON NO CIVITATIS CAMPIDO I542 Crowned shield of the Empire (double eagle) between the shields of Austria, Burgundy and Tyrol. Rev. KAROLVS V ROMA IMP SEMP AVGVST Cuirassed crowned half-length bust of Karl V right, his right hand holding scepter over his shoulder, his left hand at his sword. Davenport 9364. Nau 97. Lightly toned and with a beautiful portrait. About extremely fine.

From the collection of Dr. Max Blaschegg (1930-2021, with collector’s ticket), acquired from Frankfurter Münzhandlung on 17 May 1993.
