Description

BAKTRIA, Indo-Greek Kingdom. Zoilos II, circa 50-40/35 BC. Drachm (Silver, 16 mm, 2.10 g, 12 h), uncertain mint in the eastern Punjab. BAΣIΛEΩΣ ΣΟΤΗΡΟC / ZΩIΛOΥ Diademed and draped bust of Zoilos II to right. Rev. 'Maharajasa tratarasa Jhoilasa' ('of the Great King Zoilos the Savior' in Karoshti) Athena Promachos advancing left, holding shield on her left arm and brandishing thunderbolt with her right; to left and right, monograms. Bopearachchi 1J. HGC 12, 465. Minor flan faults on the obverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
