Description

ARABIA, Southern. Himyar. Uncertain king, 2nd-3rd centuries AD. Unit (Silver, 17 mm, 3.00 g, 6 h). Male head to left with hair in long ringlets; to left, symbol of Almaqah; to right, symbol of Athtar; above, pellet in crescent. Rev. Facing bucranium (?) with long curved horns; to left, monogram: to right, symbol of Almaqah; above, [pellet in crescent]. Huth 302. Beautifully toned. About extremely fine.

From the collection of Dr. Max Blaschegg (1930-2021, with collector’s ticket), privately acquired from Dr. F. Sternberg in June 1961.
