Description

★ A most attractive electrum stater ★

CELTIC, Central Europe. Uncertain tribe. Early 1st century BC. Stater (Electrum, 16 mm, 6.74 g, 12 h), 'Mardorf' type. Triskeles within a wreath formed of two branches with seven leaves going in opposite directions and with a disc at each end. Rev. Six annulets within a wavy torque with annulet at each end; all within cup-shaped incuse. Flesche 402. Kellner, Manching, type IX B. LT 9441. SLM 1097-1099. A most attractive example. Struck from a slightly worn obverse die and with a minor flan crack , otherwise, good extremely fine.
