Julius Caesar, 49-44 BC. Denarius (Subaeratus, 19 mm, 3.38 g, 6 h), a contemporary plated imitation, irregular mint, after 48 BC. Diademed head of Venus to right. Rev. CAESAR Aeneas advancing left, carrying palladium in his right hand and Anchises on his left shoulder. Cf. Babelon (Julia) 10, Crawford 458/1, RBW 1600 and Sydenham 1013. Breaks in plating and with scratches, otherwise, nearly fine.
