★ A stater from the Suessiones ★
NORTHEAST GAUL. Suessiones. Late 2nd to mid 1st century BC. Stater (Gold, 17 mm, 6.19 g, 4 h), 'à l'oeil' type. Devolved laureate head of Apollo to right. Rev. Celticized horse galloping to right, horseman transformed into fibula-like figure; below, wheel and small crescent. DT 168. LT 8020 var. (no crescent). The obverse struck from a somewhat worn die, otherwise, good very fine.
