ATTICA. Athens. Circa 455-449 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 24 mm, 17.22 g, 7 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with three olive leaves and palmette. Rev. AΘE Owl standing right, head facing; to left, olive sprig and crescent; all within incuse square. HGC 4, 1596. Svoronos pl. 12, 1-11. A fresh and attractive piece of lovely transitional style. Light deposits on the obverse, otherwise, good extremely fine.
